About the Club

This facility opened in September of 1974 under its original name of John Wayne Tennis Club. Palisades' current owner, Ken Stuart designed the original club. Mr. Stuart became partners with John Wayne and in addition to designing the club he served as the club's first General Manager, Director of Tennis and Head Tennis Professional. Mr. Stuart and John Wayne became partners after Mr. Stuart finished playing professional tennis for several years.

In 1995 Mr. Stuart purchased the John Wayne Tennis Club and changed the name to its current name of Palisades Tennis Club, which was a club that Mr. Stuart previously owned in Costa Mesa, California. Many name professionals have competed at our club over the last three decades.

The club recently hosted World Team Tennis for four years and had Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, Maria Sharapova, Martina Navratilova, and World #1 Lindsay Davenport who has been a member since 1992, play at our facility. The highlight in the club's history was when it hosted the 1997 Davis Cup match between the United States and the Netherlands which was won by the U.S. 4-1 and was viewed live on ESPN by over 100 million viewers.

Today the club enjoys the reputation of the finest private tennis club facility and operation in existence. Membership in the tennis club today is fairly priced and combined with the components of an outstanding facility, the finest staff anywhere, and a proprietary matchmaking service are some of the reasons that Palisades Tennis Club is the club of choice.
